🎬 Oscar Narratives I Can’t Stop Thinking About

Watch me and Michael Schulman break down this year’s accelerating Academy Awards race; plus, my interview with ‘A House of Dynamite’ star Tracy Letts

Hello, After Partiers! Today, I’m sharing the video version of the Prestige Junkie podcast, which includes an Oscar race check-in with The New Yorker’s Michael Schulman and an interview with the incredibly delightful star of A House of Dynamite, Tracy Letts. But I also wanted to let you, our beloved subscribers, know about two more opportunities to see me and Christopher Rosen yakking — plus an in-person event next week!

First up, if you’re reading this in time, you can find me, Chris and our colleague Richard Rushfield on Substack Live today at 11 a.m. PT, running through the best horror movies of all time decade by decade. As a professional scaredy-cat, I’ll be on hand mostly to judge Richard’s and Chris’ picks — but having just finished a rewatch of The Shining, I promise to come up with a few of my own takes as well.

Then, on Thursday, Chris and I will be teaming up with Shea Serrano of Good Movie for a Substack Live conversation about something we don’t get into that often: the movies that disappointed us this year. Come for the rare sight of two Substacks coming together, stay for what are probably way too many thoughts about the live-action How to Train Your Dragon remake.

And last but certainly not least — next Tuesday, you can find me and Chris live and in-person at the Denver Film Festival, talking to director Gus van Sant following a screening of his new film, Dead Man’s Wire. Tickets are on sale now, and if you really want to make a day of it, you can also catch a live recording of my other podcast, Fighting in the War Room, happening earlier in the day. We’re both very excited to check out the Denver Film Festival for the first time — if you’ll be there, please drop us a line and let us know!
